Conference on trimodal platforms along the river Moselle

In early 2010 the Ports of Moselle Authority in partnership with the Port of Trier initiated a feasibility study on the development of a containerised service, both by inland navigation and by rail. The results of the study will be presented at a conference on 19 October 2010 in Metz. The event will also act as a forum for all current and interested future stakeholders, to learn more about the opportunities on offer and to exchange views. To this end the conference will be interactive, tri-lingual, and will be backed up with several networking opportunities.

The one day conference is open to all interested parties and is free of charge.
The intended audience are seaports, deep sea terminal operators, inland terminal operators, ship owners and shipping lines, logistic service providers, warehousing companies, operators of the various transport modes (rail – road – inland navigation), forwarding companies and last but certainly not least shippers.

Because of the international scope every speaker will make his/her presentation in his/her native language, while simultaneous translation is provided in French, German and English. The conference will also include a fair which will offer companies the opportunity to present their products and services.

The Intermodal Europe exhibition (30 November-2 December) will feature a series of free conference sessions that will explore a wide range of issues affecting transport and logistics. Industry executives from all transport sectors will be able to source the latest innovations, gather market information and take part in a series of dedicated seminars. The Status and Future of the World's Large Rivers

The International Conference on “The Status and Future of the World’s Large Rivers” aims to provide a global forum for a wide-ranging discussion of key issues related to research on large rivers and to their effective and sustainable management, involving both scientists and decision makers. A statement, agreed by the participants, will be produced to assess the existing and future needs of large rivers in order to better integrate their use, protection and restoration and to devise an action plan.

Large rivers are particularly exposed to problems of multiple uses, often with conflicting aims. At the global scale, there is no overview assessment of the current status of the World’s Large Rivers, the conflicting demands on such rivers, and likely future impacts caused by human activities, as well as the potential for restoration and the associated problems.

In order to provide a forum for discussions on these important topics and to develop strategies for the future management of large rivers, BOKU – the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna – will organise an international conference involving both scientists and decision makers.
