The Austrian transport policy pursues an active promotion of inland waterway transport (IWT). As for River Information Services (RIS) traffic management infrastructure is already in operation.
In the field of combined transport specific national funding programmes are currently in place in support of combined transport, for transhipment systems facilitating intermodal transport and for regular combined transport services on the Danube.
